Hi from a very happy team at Morriscastle in the Sunny South East

We’re all still getting over the festivities of the Wexford Business Awards in Whites Hotel last Friday evening. Over 480 business people from all over the county got together for an evening of fab food, entertainment and award giving. We had applied for the Tourism Award last year and decided to give it another shot for 2013. This year, we were once again shortlisted and the interview took place a couple of weeks ago. Despite thinking that I managed to say all the wrong things it must have gone relatively okay!

On the night, the Tourism Award was second on the list and was chokka-block with serious competition, so when we were looking at our menu to check to see what sort of soup was coming up our name was called out as the runners-up! I looked over at Dad just as he was realising that he was hearing his business being called out and saw a big smile break out and possibly a gentle ‘Holy Moly’ under his breath!

In typical Niamh fashion, I nearly tripped over my long dress on the long trek up to the Podium for the official photograph whilst trying to wave at George Lawlor to tell him we were on our way ( we were seated quite far back ) but once there, it was very exciting to be standing in front of so many peers and colleagues. And quite fun not to be the person behind the camera for once!

The brilliant National Heritage Park were the overall winners of the Tourism Award on the night and obviously we’re very honoured to be considered runner up to such an amazing & successful Wexford based Tourism enterprise.

So, the fancy guna has been put away again and we’re focusing all our energies on the next 10 weeks of the summer. Just wanted to say a very large and loud ‘Thank You’ to all our guests, campers, caravanners, mobile homers, motorhomers, Beach House guests, family and friends for the support over the last 43 years. Most importantly, wherever Ria is playing her never-ending game of Bridge now she needs the biggest thanks as the main Tour-De-Force behind the business since the beginning beside Ed for 40 years.

Really looking forward to all the kids getting off school and getting things moving on site. We’re scheduling all our events, activities, music nights, fitness classes, soccer and pool tournaments etc this week and will get back to you with another blog soon so that you can be aware of everything that will be happening when you’re with us this summer.

Ok, better get back to it!

Hi from the warmest Morriscastle that I can remember (since the sand was too hot to walk over in the 80′s!).
We’re just over our June Bank holiday weekend here which was lovely and warm, but the sun only just came out on the Monday morning. This gave lots of people the opportunity to spend the day on the beach before heading home to school and work after the fun and games of the weekend which was a lovely way to finish the holiday weekend.

We had a couple of Footie Tournaments over the bank hol which catered for all kids of different ages as well as a Kiddies disco on the Sunday afternoon which had everyone under 5 dancing their little socks off in the Clubhouse . The shop and the Daisy Cafe opened again for the season on Saturday which was very exciting. Amazing coffees, cakes, burgers and sandwiches on site for another summer. We have the brilliant Emmett running the show there for the first month and our new Chef Karl will be taking over the helm in July. Watch this space for new additions to the menu for the season!

I’ve just finalised the plans for our new exercise classes that we are going to run at Morriscastle with Reiltin from Tonezone. Pilates and Kettlebell classes, each once a week from the beginning of July until mid August, I’ll be posting up prices, availability and deals very soon everywhere! So that you can plan your weeks with an injection of exercise (to allow you to have that little cupcake in the Daisy cafe!), fyi we’ll be running the Kettlebells on Tuesdays at 10am and Pilates will be on Thursday at 10am!

We’ll also have a new evening event ‘Clubhouse Crafts’ where everyone who enjoys Knitting, Embroidery, Sewing etc can get together for tea and chats to swap skills and patterns on a Tuesday evening in the Clubhouse.

If anyone wants to donate any books to our Book Shelves in the shop, this would be very much appreciated. The books are already flying out and The Irish Cancer Society is going to benefit hugely for every book that is donated and sold on, the €2 goes directly to the Charity. Big thanks in advance.

Many thanks to everyone who came down to Morriscastle this June weekend. It was a lovely weekend and a brilliant start to the season. Please ‘Like’ our Facebook page and if you feel like it, post a little review on Trip Advisor if you have a minute.

The Wexford Business Awards are coming up next week on Friday, so I’m going to be putting on my little black dress for the night and will force myself to have a glass of champers to celebrate getting shortlisted. Will keep you posted although obviously if we win it will be all over Facebook as soon as!

Thanks for all the support this year and as always, looking forward to seeing you at Morriscastle this summer. We really appreciate the ongoing support from our Mobile Homers, tourers, campers, caravanners and campervanners and hope that the upcoming few months are fun for everyone.

See you soon at Morriscastle Strand and hopefully the sun will still be shining!

Happy New Year to you all from everyone at Morriscastle! We really hope that you all had brilliant Christmas holidays and are weathering the winter well. We also hope that you are all well rested and excitedly planning your Camping and Caravanning holidays in Morriscastle for 2013!!

Currently at Morriscastle Holiday Park, we’re working away in preparation for the summer in a few months. We’re opening up on the 9th of March and we’re looking forward to welcoming you between then and the end of September.

This winter we have had our tennis courts painted up to some very snazzy colours so that everyone knows when their balls are out! We are making plans in advance for the entire summer so hopefully we’ll have a schedule for the months of July and August as well as Paddys Weekend, the Easter Break and the June Bank Holiday weekend. I guess this means that you will all know in advance what the activities/kidskamp/events are which might be handy for anyone planning a trip. We’re also chatting with local providers (in Co Wexford) who are offering all of our guests/campers/mobile-homers discounts on their services/activities etc so please drop into us in Reception to get this info throughout the summer.

We’re hoping to be celebrating Christmas and Halloween this summer too so anyone who wants to bring their Santa suit or a scary outfit please remember to do so! I always think its a pity that we’re out of season for those fun holidays, the only stipulation of course is that for the Halloween party EVERYONE has to dress up and for the Christmas party EVERYONE has to bring a little pressie and we’ll do KrisKindle. We’ll also have a Holiday park Photo Shoot, Charity walks and hopefully a Kidskamp tour or two. Sounds like fun so I’ll set the schedule up soon and pop it onto our website and Facebook.

By the way, I’m going to have to change our Facebook account completely over to a Fan page very soon. We do already have a Fan page up on Facebook so if you would be so good as to go to this link

http://www.facebook.com/pages/Morriscastle-Strand-Holiday-Park/215343988493441

and ‘like’ it, you’ll be making an old girl pretty happy. I started it up last year sometime and ran out of time to switch over completely by the time July came around. I’ll be working on developing it further from March. It would be really something to get maybe 1000 ‘Likes’ before the end of the summer this year. Actually, Im planning a photo comp for the summer season this year so ‘Like’ our page and you’ll get all the info for that…including the amazing prizes! ( which I still have to organise ).

That’s it for now, hope you like the images from the olden days when Ed and Ria started up Morriscastle. I’m including a shot of an article in The Irish Times from 1970 which is just the coolest read. Inspiring stuff!

Bye for now,

Niamh

Ps, All booking forms for long and short stay this summer will be posted in the first week of Feb. Anyone who would prefer to get an email with form attached please let me know either by emailing info@morriscastlestrand.com or text me at 087 7737637. Thanks!

So, here we are once again at the end of the summer, and what a ‘summer’ its been. Suffice to say the flowers ...

So, here we are once again at the end of the summer, and what a ‘summer’ its been. Suffice to say the flowers are well watered and the ground wont need another drop of water throughout the winter!

It was always going to be a tough season anyway but the weather really was the icing on the cake for all concerned. All our bank holiday weekends were ruined in advance by weather warnings (and Hurricane warnings too!) and the brave souls who did come to stay in the bad weather were putting their awnings and tents in jeopardy. Challenging to say the least. Here’s hoping that next summer is less wet and a lot sunnier!

Apart from the bad weather, which was THE big theme of the summer of 2012, we officially have the most amazingly generous campers, caravanner’s, mobile homers and visitors in the whole of the country. Fact. Together this year we raised money for a few different charities. Barretstown, The Irish Cancer Society and Ollies Little Hearts Appeal (For Crumlin Children’s Cardiac ward). Altogether we donated €3,500!!! We had a weekends worth of craic for Barretstown although the weather again put a dampener on those events including our ‘Walk around the Park in the Dark. We had the brilliant Shave or Dye for the Irish Cancer Society and finally our Coffee Morning funds went to Ollies Little Hearts Appeal. Well done everyone, I’m so proud to be able to offer the cheques to all our chosen charities. You’re brilliant!

Lori and I brought our Kidskamp group to the cinema a couple of weeks ago to see Ice Age 4 3D which was big fun and we had our Family Fun Sports Day last Sunday on the Astro Footie Pitch, by default because the grass field was so swamped. Turned out that having the events (mini olympics) there was a big success so next year we’ll be doing the same. Big thanks to all our kids who took part in the games, oh and to all the adults who got very involved in the Tug Of War!

Kids are back to school again this week and we will be starting to close down the Reception/cafe/shop. Our fab Beach House has been booked up throughout the season constantly and there are some really great reviews on Trip Advisor too. Think it would be the most amazing place to have a family winter break by the beach, with an open wood stove too..very cosy! I’ll be posting special winter deals here very soon so keep an eye out. I’ll also be keeping you all up to date with any new developments that we might be planning on site for 2013 so don’t forget to check out our Facebook page and website regularly.

Finally – a big THANKS to all our wonderful staff members who helped us get through the season, especially with the development of the Reception building and the new Beach House. Daithi, Dorian, Aga, John, Lori, Maria, Marie, Ashling, Amy and Nicola. A special word of thanks to the girls in the new cafe who probably ran 1000kms this summer getting orders together and chasing coffees around the deck – Ania, Evie and Patricia.
Most importantly, the busy Hugh and Ed deserve the biggest thanks as without them….

This year without our Mam around was so very difficult, her first year anniversary will be next month on the 27th. I cant believe its been a year already. Thank you to everyone who offered condolences to us over the past 6 months. It was lovely to remember her so often with others.

Will be in touch very soon. Might take a few days away first though!
Thanks for your support over this year and hope to see you back with us in 2013.

Hello! We’ve been very busy on site since the last post and we are motoring along with our new facilities, buildings and activities. ...

Hello!

We’ve been very busy on site since the last post and we are motoring along with our new facilities, buildings and activities. The season is in full flow and despite the weather, we’re hanging on in there.
Its been ages since my last post. I’m sure you’ve all missed my ramblings, every time I tried to type up a little ditty I fell asleep so I thought it best to do it in the morning instead! Its now early on the Friday of the August Bank Holiday weekend and we’re looking forward to a fun filled weekend despite the fact that its raining. This ‘summer’ has really been a challenge weather-wise so I think we’ve got to just do the best we can.

We officially opened the Reception building on our 43rd Birthday a couple of weeks ago and embarassed Dad into cutting a ribbon and doing a little speech. There was a great crowd to celebrate with us (and have cake!) we had a great evening. We remembered Mom especially that night as if it wasn’t for her, Morriscastle really wouldn’t be the place it is now. She guided it (and Dad) through the 42 years she was at the helm and that guidance, advice and wisdom is missed every day this season but I know she’s watching out for us this year on site. She was with us in spirit at the Wexford Business Awards too where we were shortlisted in the Tourism section and no doubt was delighted to see Ed all dressed up in his Tux!

Our lovely new ‘Strand Cafe’ is open all day from 8.30am to 10pm and has everything from full fry-ups to toasted sandwiches, omelettes to quesidillas and a full take away menu including Pizzas in the evenings. We stock the Little Kitchen Cupcakes throughout the week and have our fabulous Gaggia coffee machine working away all day and night! The take away team are amazing and we’re being supported by all our mobile homers, campers, caravanners and locals too! Thanks to you all, it was a stressful few months in the run up to opening so I’m really happy with all the positive feedback we’re getting.

The KidsKamp has been ongoing every day since the start of July and the Drama, games, arts and crafts and circus skills sessions are keeping all the kids busy and happy. Thanks to all the facilitators, Bettina, Irma, Melanie and Danny for all their hard work. Lori and I organised a Teddy Bears Picnic for the kids a couple of weeks ago which was very well attended and lovely to see the sun shining while the kids enjoyed their chocolate krispie buns on the deck of the Clubhouse. We also have been lucky to have Puppeteer and magician Joe on site twice already entertaining everyone with his show.

July was really busy with regular activities like our Music Night, Archery (every thursday),Bridge (every Thurs too), Football tournaments and Poker happening all around the park. Last weekend saw Morriscastle take part in a collective effort to raise money for Barretstown through Olympic inspired events. I think about 10 other parks around the county took part, we had a ‘Walk around the Park in the Dark’ (which was meant to be a Beach walk at night but the tide came in!!) on Friday night which was fantastic. So many people came out and walked with us, loads of people donated en route and we had a little glass of wine to finish off the event. We made over €300 alone from that, so thanks to you all. On Saturday we had a tug-of-war scheduled for the morning but the bad rain cancelled that and our Hawaiian Hooley night again was affected by the bad weather but we did still have our Punch and Limbo dancing till late! The cafe looked great with all the Palm trees and handmade Leis so we had great fun despite the crap weather once again! Finally we had a couple of Footie Tournaments on the Sunday which were very successful and all together we pulled in €650 for Barretstown which is amazing. Thanks to you all for your generosity.

This weekend we’ll be having our ‘Shave or Dye’ event, dyes are at the ready and we’re looking for volunteers! I’m dyeing my head as many colours as can fit, Hugh will be shaving his head into a mohican and dyeing that and Ed has decided that his beard can go any colour of my choice so watch this space! I would be so grateful to any of you that would like to take part, give donations or volunteer someone else! Its all in aid of the Irish Cancer Society so any money raised will got to an amazingly worthwhile cause. Sponsorship cards are available in the reception where you can also choose your colour dye and/or blade length. I used to have a skinhead so I’m extremely proficient with a razor! We’ll also have a Poolroom Olympics and a KidsKamp Magic show so should be a great one, despite the dodgy weather.

Next Saturday night (11th) we’re hoping for a calm evening so that we can enjoy another music night on site so any of you budding musicians staying with us, bring your instruments and voices to the evening and we’ll spend a few hours singing and playing along. The last one was so magical, hopefully we can recreate that again.

If you didn’t hear me on the Colm Hayes show or the Pat Kenny show a couple of weeks ago the link to the Colm Hayes show is below. These both went pretty well although half way through the chat with Colm, the boys started drilling the wall outside the office! It was great to get the exposure on the two biggest nationwide radio stations in Ireland and this saw our hits on www.morriscastlestrand.com jump up to over 6,000 for July!!

And so begins the summer..with lots and lots of rain. So we’re going to ignore the rain that’s falling in a negative sense ...

And so begins the summer..with lots and lots of rain. So we’re going to ignore the rain that’s falling in a negative sense and focus on the fact that it’s feeding my flowers and all the new grass seeds that we have planted over the winter.

So, basically in the last week we have seen phenomenal developments on site. I can take no credit for any of them as I’m too little (or maybe too bossy?) to help pick up and move these monstrous machines and structures like our new freezer room – which will keep you all in croissants, sausage rolls, chocolate pastries and baguettes all summer without fail! As well as the new freezer room, we got delivery of the new display fridge into the cafe space (and when I say ‘we’ I mean ‘not me’ unless you count someone shouting at heavily muscled boys ‘helping’.)

We’ve just painted all the skirting today and cleaned the massive view offering windows which are amazing now – and it means that you can now see the wooden floor that has just been put down in the new poolroom area too. There’s a running joke on site that I keep rolling up whenever a job has been finished – I try to do a little something to help on the project so that I can grab the accolade of ‘finishing the job’. To date would you believe I’ve already finished the cafe outdoor decking area and the Freezer room.

The shop has a little bit of work still to complete but we’re nearly there. Dorian has made up many amazing Blackboards where you’ll find all our Ice Cream, coffee, take away and cake menus. The reception is also nearly finished with a little bit of superficial work left to complete and is looking very bright and professional.

These last couple of weeks especially have been very taxing and stressful with all the work, so thanks to all our guys on site who have worked really really hard to avoid me shouting at them.

At this point I can’t wait to get this season up and running. Our new Kidskamp has been announced on Facebook and I’m so very excited about the very talented artists and creative heads who will be on site all summer this year. We will have our weekly events on our blackboard outside the Reception at the start of every week so that no-one misses anything and will be starting off things like our Midnight movies very soon. Our Shave and Dye date will be announced as soon as I get confirmation of the hairdressers! And we can announce that we will have Archery every Thursday before Bridge which will take place on a Thursday evening in the Club House. Many many thanks to Ellen and Iris for continuing on the Bridge that my Mam started up here. I’m delighted that we can still have it going every Thursday evening and I know she would be too, given the massive Bridge enthusiast that she was.

Dad and I attended the Wexford Business Awards on Friday night in Whites Hotel in Wexford town. I got to put my beautiful dress that my Mam bought with me all those years ago which is now my ‘Black Tie’ dress and accompanied a Tux-wearing Ed for the evening. It was a much bigger event than I had thought it would be with champagne and wine flowing from start to finish. I was really impressed by Whites Hotel and everyone had a great night.

I was really chuffed to see our Morriscastle Strand logo on the big screen with others such as Kelly’s Hotel, South East Angling, Wexford Opera Festival to name a few. South East Angling came in as Runners up which I was delighted to see and congrats to them. Despite the fact that we didn’t come in the top two, I’m just delighted that Morriscastle is recognised amid such a bunch of amazing tourism businesses. Thanks to all of you who supported us not only in this Award but generally over the last 43 years and especially this year.

Finally, many thanks to the fab Travel editor of the Irish Independent, Pol O Chongaile who voted Morriscastle Strand Holiday Park as the number ONE Family Camping and Caravanning Park in Ireland!!

Hope to see you soon, remember to book ahead if you want to come down to stay – 087 7737637 or info@morriscastlestrand.com

Happy Holidays folks.

The last few weeks have been extremely busy on site with all the developments and renovations corresponding with the June bank holiday weekend kicking in! After the long winter this year, it was great to get back into the new Reception building and start welcoming guests again for another season.

Having been shortlisted for the Wexford business awards in the tourism section the interview was held on the Friday afternoon of the June weekend (On one of our busiest days!!) so I slipped away from the action in the Reception and met the two Judges in the amazing Whites Hotel. Hopefully it went well but am really just delighted that Morriscastle Strand is part of the Awards. I hadn’t seen the shortlisted group in the Tourism section of the Awards before the Interview (thankfully) as I would have been a lot more nervous than I was as there are some major names in tourism there. Anyway, I’ll keep you all posted, the Awards Ceremony is on the night of the 29th of June so Dad and I will be dressed up in our finery and will report back afterwards. Wexford Chamber needed a photo of the family members who work at the park for the local Newspapers, check out how beautiful we all look in front of the Reception..stunning in our good working clothes with Sally.

Once again though, a massive Thank You to all of our mobile homers, campers, tourers and motorhomers who stay with us here. It’s because of you that we are still in business and able to keep going in these challenging times.

The guys were amazing in the few days run up to last weekend – Hugh, Daithi, Dorian, Dave and John worked endlessly through the days and nights to get as much done as possible before Friday morning. So many people commented that they didn’t think we would get the reception and shop open for the Bank holiday weekend judging by the state of it up to Thursday afternoon! Thanks Guys and many thanks to everyones patience with all the ongoing work and renovations, we’ll be done very soon and it will all have been worth it. The atmosphere in the Reception and the Shop already is great, its so bright, airy and spacious and with the amazing views of the sea I think it’s going to be a much more professional and comfortable building to run the Holiday park from.

Also nearly ready and opening at the beginning of July is our new camper cabin which is in the Tower field beside the top toilet block. This is our new campers kitchen and will have a fridge, freezer, microwave, prep area with tables and chairs.

I’m sorting out the schedule for the months of July and August and am delighted to announce (sneak peak) that we will be having on site Archery with Castle Archery every Tuesday from the 3rd of July! I cant wait to see everyone getting involved in that throughout the summer, sounds like absolutely amazing family fun.

We will also have a list of attractions and services in the Wexford area who are happy to offer our guests discounts on their product so I’m working away at getting those vouchers ready for kick off at the beginning of July. I’m really grateful that so many South East businesses/attractions are willing to be involved in this idea. We will have our brand new Tourist info centre in the Reception so all information on this and all other places of interest in Co Wexford will be available there.

We are also still planning our Shave or Dye day in July or August. We’ll be confirming the date of this when all other activities and plans are sorted, but just so you all know I’m hoping to dye my hair all the colours of the rainbow. It’s gone a lighter shade of grey this winter so no harm in covering it all up! As always, keep an eye on Facebook for our updates.

We have our fabulous new Holiday Home images up there for you to have a little look at. We’re delighted to have that sorted for the season and very excited about the winter there! Think it might just be a little slice of winter heaven by Morriscastle Beach in the snow!!

The mobile home is now completely booked out until September and we have one week left in August [18th to the 25th] for the Holiday House – email me at info@morriscastlestrand.com if you would like some further info on it or if you might like to book it.

Dont forget to give me a call on the office number 053 91 30124, the mobile 087 7737637 or email me at info@morriscastlestrand.com if you’re thinking of coming down to us for any time over the months of July and August. Looking forward to hearing from you!

We’re motoring along with the development of the site and time is flying. Last Monday was a real boost when the Electricians, Plumbers and Tilers arrived to get things moving! Now, a week later you can see from the images here and on our Facebook page that things may look a little scary but from my point of view, we’re well on the way to having everything (except the take away) ready by the June Bank Holiday weekend.

So here’s a rundown of what we’re currently renovating at Morriscastle Strand Holiday Park.

The Reception Building, Shop, Reception, Gamesroom and Take-Away. We’re moving them all around inside the original building and re-doing the interiors completely. We’re very excited to be finally moving into modern day technology with new tills, computers and booking systems in the different departments of the business. Better get my techie head on for the next while!

The Top Toilet block, Showers, toilets, tiling, dividers and the laundry. Here we have basically gutted all of the various rooms and are re-tiling the walls, putting in new shower boxes, we’ve removed the sinks from the large laundry and this will be a drying room as well. We are hoping to add a campers kitchen to the space beside the top toilet block which will mean that all our campers can take advantage of a new special area to cook, clean dishes and store supplies in the fridge and freezer. It’s a really exciting plan and hopefully will be functioning from the beginning of peak season – July.

Tuesday 24th of April is D-Day for our poor old tennis courts. We decided to update the tennis courts while we were working at all the other aspects of Morriscastle, in for a penny, in for a pound or just suckers for punishment maybe! So the work begins here on the courts and I’m looking forward to everyone getting out onto the courts throughout the summer in the blazing sun and getting in training for our own version of Wimbledon!

I’m currently working our activities schedule out for the months of July and August so keep your eye on this blog and our Facebook page for info on what’s happening throughout the summer this year!

Hoping to see you all in Morriscastle sometime this season for some fun and relaxing camping and to check out all our hard work! Remember that the special offer of €20 per night in off-peak still stands until the end of September. This doesn’t include any bank holiday weekends or the months of June/July and August. During peak times we are operating our 7 nights for the price of 6 too so there’s really no reason not to come down to the fabulous sunny south east and get camping at Morriscastle!

Better get back to work!

Our Easter Sunday was great craic on site this year with a medley of Easter Egg Hunts for all the different age groups around the park. The tiny tots had to answer one riddle and then all went on to Eds house where all their little bags of Easter eggs were hiding in the grass and old walls.
The older kids were divided up into various age groups and teams and let loose on the park all with different clues to get them started on their own hunts. When you think about it – its quite a feat organising clues for 8 teams with 6 clues each…and getting them to rhyme! (Thanks Ed!!!)
There was no over lapping or confusion with the clues or the teams and everyone found all their eggs and clues in great time.

I had been wracking my little brain to think up something different for a little activity after the Egg Hunt and came up with the idea of a Pinata party, something I knew nothing about! I watched a little YouTube video on how to make them and for the next few nights sat in front of the telly making them and messing around with the decorations. We hung them up out of our old sturdy trees and the kids all had an opportunity to get blindfolded, twirled around and they attempted to whack them to burst them and drop all the sweets and Easter eggs all over the ground. The kids had great fun trying to hit them and everyone managed to get a go, although we did have to renovate a few of the Pinatas to keep them going due to the big crowds!

Thanks to all of you who came and took part in our Hunts and Pinata poking party – we had a great number of families staying in the touring area and mobile homes over Easter which created a lovely atmosphere over the holidays. I hope all the chocolate lovers who came out in force to enjoy our Easter Sunday activities had as much fun as we did!

We’re currently organising our May Bank Holiday weekend activities, keep your eyes peeled for info on this and the summer here or on our Facebook page.

Bye for now,

Hi All,

We’re delighted to be open again in the Sunny South East for another year!

While the mobile-homes and the camping areas are open, we are busy concentrating on our buildings for the peak season.
We were a little bit worried that the reception building was about to fall down at the end of the season last year (especially when we had to close the poolroom when it rained due to the massive floods that came through the roof!) so we started fixing it up at the end of November. We began with the roof, then moved onto the windows and the doors and now we’re focusing on the interiors.

The main plan is to separate the shop, reception and tourist information area in the front area of the building while playing around with the poolroom and the take away at the back. We have some fab ideas for this space but we’ll have to wait to announce them once we figure out the exact plans. Watch this space!

Our top toilet block will be finished for the June Bank Holiday weekend. It’s getting a complete overhaul at the moment, new showers, new tiles throughout, new loos etc., very exciting! We’re hoping to add a new kitchen area for our campers to cook/clean and eat in close to the top toilet block but this still has to be confirmed.

There will be another few big developments on and around the site that will be ready from the June bank holiday weekend, but we’ll be revealing all closer to the main season once the work begins. Hopefully the weather will stay dry so that we can get moving on everything soon.

For St. Patrick’s Day next weekend, we’re having a ‘Paddy’s Party’ on Saturday the 17th so if you’re around, please come and drop by for a little green tipple and some green jelly and green ice-cream! Time and location for our ‘Paddy’s Party’ will be known from Friday 16th. Make sure to wear something green, white or orange.

Sunday the 18th of March is Mothers Day so all Moms and families are welcome to come up for their Mothers Day Family Portrait between 10 and 3pm! If the weather’s good, we’ll be able to go down to the beach for the shoot. How fab to have Morriscastle Beach as the backdrop! When you arrive to the site, please register for this with me and I can give you a time and location for your Family Portraits. Images will be emailed to families participating later on in the month.

We’ll be gearing up for the Easter Holidays after St. Patrick’s weekend so I’ll be chatting to the Easter Bunny and we’ll be organising the Egg Hunt that will take place on Easter Sunday. We’ll be operating from the wooden house behind the reception building so come over on arrival to book in and we’ll give you all the details for the hunt then. Last year we had our fantastic Easter Egg Tree so we’ll be trying to grow that back for the Easter Bunny to leave all his eggs on it for everyone!!

Morriscastle is offering a reduction in rates this year for off-peak stays, stay with us for €20 per night!! This offer is not available for Easter, the May and June Bank Holiday Weekends or for the months of July and August but for all other nights. This includes your unit, up to 2 adults and 2 kids, electricity and awning.

Hoping to see you at some stage over the next 6 months,
Happy St. Patrick’s Day,
Happy Mothers Day,
Happy Easter
